About the role

We are looking for an experienced Live Audio Application Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in bridging the technical and sales functions at Sound Technology. Working closely with the sales BDMs (Business Development Managers), you will focus on the performance side of the business, providing technical expertise and support to venues, theatres, and live events across the UK. This role is designed for someone who thrives in a technical environment, enjoys hands-on work, and is passionate about shaping the future of the industry.

Your main responsibility will be working directly with our sales team to ensure the successful deployment and performance of our professional audio systems, with a particular emphasis on Harman products such as JBL, Soundcraft, Crown and BSS. You’ll be integral in supporting sales activities with demonstrations, system design, and technical support, ensuring that our clients receive the highest level of expertise and service in the live performance sector.

What you will be doing in this role

  • Act as the technical expert for live sound solutions, offering support for sound engineers, tour companies, hire companies, and venues.
  • Conduct in-depth product demonstrations, explaining the technical benefits and applications of our audio products to key decision-makers in venues and event spaces.
  • Provide on-the-ground support for live events, collaborating with the sales team to design and implement audio systems for tours, festivals, and performances.
  • Take ownership of technical system design and integration, ensuring the highest audio performance for both small and large-scale venues.
  • Work alongside the sales team to define and implement sales strategies that meet revenue targets, specifically within the live performance audio sector.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, showcases, and events, delivering product demonstrations and presentations.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, identifying opportunities for new business and offering ongoing support to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provide technical training and system support, both remotely and on-site, for system commissioning, tuning, and maintenance.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and competitor products, feeding insights back to the sales team to help shape future product offerings and strategies.

What you will bring to this role

  • Strong knowledge and experience in live sound and performance audio, particularly in system design and support.
  • Proven expertise with performance products such as line array and other professional audio equipment, including amplifiers, DSPs, speakers, wireless systems, and consoles.
  • Experience in working at live events, including system setup, tuning, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with audio measurement tools such as SMAART or equivalents for system alignment and optimisation.
  • An understanding of the live sound industry, including rigging, acoustics, and system performance.
  • A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with sales teams, ensuring a seamless integration of technical and commercial elements.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and negotiation skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in using computer software and systems for project management and reporting.
