"The specific set of tools we have on test here not only demonstrates the diversity available but also the quality".

Guit istomp 500

Following on from Guitarist's review of the DigiTech iStomp back in issue 354, the magazine have this month taken the opportunity to review the latest e-pedals in the DigiTech Stomp Shop.

"Since our original review, as promised, DigiTech has released a number of different e-pedals for the iStomp - a total of 34 at the time of writing" [4 more have been added since the review bringing the total to 38].

"With the 'Sound-Off', you press the footswitch to mute the signal, Rapid-fire on/off is a cinch with the fast-action switch, and you can get the effect with any guitar. Inspired".

"The Strato-Boost is a single-kob clean boost, giving your guitar signal up to an additional 24db of pure gain without messing with the tone, giving a lift when needed and capable of driving your valve amp further into overdrive".

"If you're looking for overdrive with more control, this four-knob e-pedal (Half-Pipe Overdrive) could do the trick. This is a versatile little overdrive unit that goes beyond mild break-up sounds into distortion territory when you wind up the gain".

"The Overdrive Preamp 250, officially licensed from DOD, is a version of the high-gain preamp pedal first launched in the 80s. With the gain at minimum, the 250 can be employed as a booster, but advancing the gain yields rich, full-on valve-like distortion".

"Another pedal licensed from DOD, the Gonkulator combines distortion with ring modulator...Stick the two together and you can have all shades of strange - we liked a distorted lead sound with a hint of RM weirdness lurking behind each note".

"The Rotator is a rotary speaker effect, albeit one with interesting parameter adjustments. You get standard speed and depth controls, but there' a;so a knob for the amount of Doppler pitch-shifting and a knob to vary the crossover frequency point for the horn and rotor".

"The Spring Tank Reverb is designed to emulate the sort of spring reverb found in a classic American combo...(the controls) do a great deal to accurately dial in the sound of an Accutronics spring in full vibration. From adding a bit of vintage-flavoured ambience to a dry amp through to a deep surf twang, this e-pedal is well worth a download".

"The Lexicon Hall Reverb offers more sophistication in providing the large hall sound found in Lexicon's studio rackmount units...if you feel a big natural reverb is what your sound needs, this could be the way to get it".

"The iStomp can be any pedal you want it to be, and this new batch of downloadable pedals amply proves that...They all provide practical applications for the iStomp hardware".
