Phil Lanzon, keyboard player and organist for Uriah Heep, was amongst one of the first people to take delivery of a new Nord C2D drawbar organ when it began shipping last month.

Currently touring to promote their new studio album ‘Into the Wild’, Phil had up until this year, been using the Nord C1 on all tour and festival dates. His use of the Nord modeling organ was instigated by the rising costs of transporting a Hammond organ with its Leslie rotary speakers around the world.

Phil praises Nord for what he feels is the “perfect replica organ” in the Nord C2D. “Having drawbars is the final missing link between my Nord and my Hammond”, he says.

“The organ models section allows me to recreate the classic and grinding sounds of the early 70’s. A welcome addition is the keyboard trigger mode, which allows the ‘feel’ of an authentic pipe organ. Even the swell pedal has the authentic valve sound when fully on and not being played. Not forgetting the characteristic overdrive, this multi-faceted package is the ultimate essential for any Hammond player”.
