"A portable powerhouse of vintage keys and a real player's instrument. The perfect alternative to lugging around a truck full of keyboards, 10/10".
Another fantastic review of the Nord Electro 4D this month, this time courtesy of MusicTech magazine where Nord's latest keyboard receives a 10/10 star rating and the magazine's 'Excellence' award.
"As Clavia's range of instruments has expanded to include the Stage and C2 organ, some of the core technology from those has begun to find its way into the Electro. Now at version 4D, this model is an evolution rather than a revolution from the Electro 3, bringing interesting performance features while shedding a little weight".
"The instrument's front panel is logically laid out and has some tweaks from the previous model. The most obvious change is the switch from digital to physical drawbars, and these offer a more authentic Hammond experience when pulling the different bars up and down".
"The real changes though, are inside, under the hood. The 4D has inherited the B3 tonewheel simulation from the flagship C2D organ, which sounds amazing".
"Another new feature is the Long release option, which when activated makes for more authentic legato playing styles for pianos. The pianos themselves are excellent and a far cry from the relatively basic model you'd have found in the early Electros".
"Other excellent keyboard sounds packed into the Electro 4D include a variety of Rhodes, Wurlitzer and Clavis, all suitably panned, phased or delayed for maximum effect."
"The Electro 4D is a great player's keyboard: small and portable enough to carry almost anywhere, but with a big, believable sound and supreme playability".
"It's the updated organ section that really seals the deal, though, its tones by turn sweet, biting or raw. The new drawbars make playing feel more hands-on and the three organ models and rotary speaker simulations sound breathtaking. This is what sets it apart from its predecessor, along with the new delay effects, USB MIDI, improved control pedal support and double the number of program buttons".
"For authentic vintage keyboard sounds, the Nord Electro 4D certainly punches well above its weight".
