"Washburn has given you a damn good place to begin your search for your first or next acoustic guitar'.
Three of the new Washburn Heritage Series acoustic guitars are reviewed in the new issue of Total Guitar magazine - the Washburn HD10S, HG26SE and HD30SCE. The review also sees the Washburn HG26SCE awarded with the magazine’s ‘Best Buy’ award.
On the Washburn HD10S, “This affordable guitar offers the classic well-spec’d dreadnought performance: bags of volume, a booming bottom end, and a touch of natural compression when you hit the strings hard. The Sitka spruce top is cut thin, which allows it to vibrate freely. More movement equals more volume, and an eventual improvement in tone. Figure in the slim neck profile and low, buzz-free string action, and you’ve got a great all-rounder for £249...”.
On the Washburn HG26SCE, “While spruce takes a while for its tone to mature - you unlock its potential by actually playing the guitar - cedar flashes its goodies pretty much from the first strum”.
“Picking the HG26SCE reveals a sweet top end and a satisfying growl from the bottom E and A strings…If we had to pick a guitar for fingerpickers to, er, pick…we’d, ahem…pick this”.
On the Washburn HD30SCE, “The gold finish to the die-cast tuners obviously looks more plush than the plane jane chrome jobs, but turn the guitar over and you’ll find a highly figured quilt ash back and sides”.
“You could pretty much do anything with this sound: get a house party singing along with Oasis' Wonderwall, mellow out the stoners with a rendition of Comfortably Numb, or even strum through some ol' Hank Williams stuff, if that's your poison. And not many people would be able to tell that you spent under £400 on your gear either…"
