Since it was first announced at the start of 2016, the mystery and excitement surrounding the new OP-Z has got the electronic music world buzzing. Another portable synthesiser, sampler and sequencer from Teenage Engineering with a twist - it’s also capable of sequencing images, graphics, and even DMX lighting.
After a long period of meticulous development, the OP-Z was launched at the opening party for ‘ElectroAnalogue’ - an exhibition at Tom Dixon as part of London Design Week. Tom Dixon is a designer furniture shop located in Kings Cross, London.
The team from Teenage Engineering performed an experimental live electronic set, which comprised of at least 4 OP-Zs, the OP-1, Pocket Operators and a number of other hardware synths / FX. As well as filling the dancefloor with pounding techno beats, one OP-Z was dedicated to DMX operation of the light show, synchronising light sequences with the audio performance.
The OP-Z multimedia synthesiser and sequencer is available in October 2018.
