Having attracted one million visitors in just 12 months, the 32,000-seater Ricoh Stadium is one of the busiest football venues in the Midlands. More than just a sports arena, the venue has played host to concerts from acts ranging from Bon Jovi to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Tasked with delivering a powerful loudspeaker system that offered superioir clarity from the stands to the boxes and balconies, consultants ARUP turned to our engineers to assist with the design. As at the O2, our engineers helped with the process of acoustically modelling the venue, and supplied ARUP's designers with specific acoustic data for the venue. ATogether with Vision Systems, ARUP then put forward to possible solutions for the venue's PA, including the JBL weatherproof loudspeaker system chosen for the final design.
According to ARUP, the JBL Precision Directivity PD5212-WRC speaker system was chosen by the contractor due to the successul track record it has with footbal clubs in the UK, although Vision Systems' project manager was unequivocal, commenting that none of the alternative speaker systems performed as well as the JBL solution.
