following its successful 2023 launch, K.O. II quickly earned its spot as a studio go-to for beat-makers all over the world. now, teenage engineering has released K.O. II’s first major software update: OS 2.0. the new update is a direct response to what users in every genre have been asking for, adding long-requested features to the list like resampling, song mode, sidechain, more polyphony and extended midi functionality. it builds on what made the original great, and pushes it even further.

resampling.
resampling adds the ability to stack and process sounds to create new samples. samples can be filtered, processed through
effects and transformed into something completely new. this also makes it possible to bounce a full pattern back to a pad, opening up new chop-and-remix workflows.

song mode.
the new song mode allows scenes to be arranged into full compositions, making it possible to create longer and more structured track arrangements. a great addition for live performances.

sidechaining.
sidechain compression allows for one or several sounds to dynamically control the volume envelope of another. a staple technique in electronic music, sidechaining is heard in the productions of edm and neo-soul artists like eric prydz, benny benassi, and kaytranada.

more polyphony.
K.O. II now supports up to 16 mono and 12 stereo voices, an increase from the previous 12 mono and 6 stereo, providing greater flexibility in any production.

hands-free sampling.
new hands-free sampling mode allows triggered recording of sounds. a great tool for capturing live instruments like a two-handed piano, an acoustic drum beat or guitar riffs.

expanded midi capabilities.
OS 2.0 expands K.O. II’s midi functionality with extended remote control options, and midi thru support to pass on notes to other machines, plus sync multiple devices within most setups.

backup and restore via ep-sample-tool.
the sample tool now allows backing up and restoring individual projects, transferring files between multiple K.O. II units and collaborating through shared custom sample banks. ep-sampletool now also accepts any sample rate to greatly extend sample time, or as a simple trick to get a lo-fi feel to loops.
