POM-400

Home-build analogue synthesizer with 1-16 step sequencer

SRP £290.00 inc VAT

POM-400 is a home-build analogue synthesizer with 3 oscillators, noise, random generator, 2 envelopes, 2 VCA’s, LFO, filter, mixer, speakerbox, power pack and a 1-16 step sequencer. A Complete kit with powder-coated chassis, 16 modules, 15 patch cables, screwdriver, and an illustrated build guide.

Each kit comes with all of the parts needed to build the project. Included in these flat packed synthesizers are everything from a powder coated aluminium chassis to an illustrated build guide with instructions and bend angles. When bending is complete, move on to mount the modules, snap the wire connectors and finalise your build with knobs and rubber feet. Remember, think twice and double-check the angles before bending.

What's new:

  • Added PO-Sync output, which allows for easy patching out and into the PO series. Use this jack to sync modular tempo with any pocket operator.
  • Speaker volume knob adjusted for intuitive control
  • Level on sequencer clock out adjusted to 5v from 10v
  • Output amplitude on white noise adjusted so now it can trigger envelopes
  • PSU has been improved, it is now more stable and offers a longer battery life
  • Oscillators have been retrimmed, giving an improved audio range to play with
  • Increased size of screw holes on powder coated aluminium chassis for easy building

Note: There is no power supply included. If you want to run the units on wall power you need an adapter with the following specifications (sold separately):

  • AC/DC adapter
  • 12V, min 1A (12 watt)
  • Polarity: center negative
  • Plug: 4.75/1.7mm

Warning: Make sure to remove the batteries from the battery holder before connecting the DC-plug to the external AC/DC adapter.

Use separate battery charger to charge re-chargeable batteries.

MEET THE MODULES

M-1
square
square oscillator
Rich in odd harmonics, the square wave oscillator is great for hollow basses and screaming leads. The pulse width modulation (pwm) input makes it possible to generate
a faux two oscillator detune sound.

M-2
saw
sawtooth oscillator
Containing both the odd and even harmonics, the sawtooth is great for string types of sound. The linear frequency modulation input (fm) easily brings you into the sci-fi domain.

M-3
sine
sine oscillator
With no overtones the pure sine wave is a jack of all trades. From pure bass to dub sirens, it's the army knife of a modular system. The linear frequency modulation input (fm) easily brings you into the sci-fi domain.

M-4
filter
low pass filter
Shape your sound with the 24db/oct low pass filter. Get lost in space while tweaking the resonance and frequency pots.

M-5
env
envelope
A classic. Attack, decay, sustain and release. Give your sonic creation the contour it deserves. Triggered by any signal that crosses the two volt threshold.

M-6
vca
voltage control amplifier
Automate your volume! Feed it control voltage and your signal will adapt accordingly. Best friends with the envelope for classic configurations, and your oscillator in wired configurations

M-7
mixer
3-channel mixer
A necessity in all modular systems. Three inputs, one output, with volume control over both the individual inputs as well as the master output.

M-8
noise
2 x noise
The white noise contains noise equal over the whole spectrum. The saw output is a perfect companion for the sample and hold.

M-9
rand
Randomise your music with the sample and hold. Any input is sampled and then presented at the outputs. Rate can be controlled both externally and internally, but always needs an external signal to sample. Experiment with both receptive and random sources as the sample input.

M-10
lfo
low frequency oscillator
Generating both square as well as triangle waves, the low frequency oscillator is the perfect tool to spice up your patches. Great in everything from automated filter sweeps to syncing the clocks.

M-11
speaker
amplifier+speaker bellow
Cables goes in, sounds come out. Show off your amazing patch to the rest of the world. Let them hear it.
Warning: never connect headphones directly to the outputs! You can damage your ears and your headphones.

M-12
sequencer
16-step sequencer
Sixteen steps of control. Override the internal clock with the clock input. Send clock out or PO Sync out. Make it go backwards with the arrow input. Jump to the first step, the second, fourth or eight step with the reset and binary.
