Radio mic and in-ear monitor specialist suppliers, Hand Held Audio, are finding an increasing demand for AKG’s DMS700 digital wireless system, particularly for applications where securely encrypted audio is required or desired, according to director Mick Shepherd.

Recent rentals include a large system to a major London hotel for a two-day event, staged by a major multi-national investment corporation. The 12-way AKG system comprised 3 x DPT700 digital wireless bodypack transmitters, with CK77 lavalier mic, and a DHT700 digital wireless handheld transmitter with D7 dynamic capsule; for a separate room they also supplied a further 8 x DPT700 with CK77.

“The systems were racked with AKG power hubs and antenna distribution, with the SRA-2W remote antennae,” reports Shepherd. “The encryption facility on the DMS700 was key on this occasion.”

Around the same time they supplied a 6-way system to another client, to cover a major flagship opening of a new corporate HQ in Manchester. Again, the complement of mics included 6 x DHT700 handheld transmitters with D7 dynamic capsules — and again it was the encryption facility that proved essential.

Hand Held then fulfilled an order for a 6-way AKG system (comprising 3 x DPT700 with CK77, and 3 x DHT700 with D7) — racked with power and antenna distribution to a leading London sustainable events venue to supplement the in-house facilities there.

And finally, they rounded off the year by supplying a landmark West End London theatre with a two-way AKG system (comprising 2 x DHT700 with D7, and 1 x DSR700 with 2 x SRA-2W remote antennae) for a charity pantomime production.

AKG’s DMS700 system is designed to deliver premium digital audio quality and quick-and-easy operation within even the most crowded radio environment, while the state-of-the-art 512-bit audio encryption offers the highest security available for confidential meeting environments. And this security was essential for corporate blue chip usage.

Summing up AKG’s success, Mick Shepherd commented, “Over the last 12 months we've experienced steadily increasing demand for encrypted radio mic systems. The AKG DMS700 system not only has excellent 512-bit encryption but also a switching bandwidth of 150 MHz. This makes it a very flexible option in terms of frequency availability and licensing, in crowded RF environments."
