Maidstone-based Phonophobia Productions has supplied 16 channels of the brand new AKG DMS800 reference digital mic system, plus a Soundcraft Si Expression 2 digital console, to Rochester based Ground:zero Productions.
Supplied to Phonophobia by HARMAN UK/ROI distributor Sound Technology Ltd, the system was sold to Ground:zero Productions to accommodate an increased demand for high end production equipment in their expanding rental stocks.
Ground:zero is an event production company, specialising in the production of conferences, product launches, congresses, meetings and awards shows to the corporate market nationally and internationally. The company combines creative flair with technical expertise that includes video production, hybrid events and interactive audience engagement.
Phonophobia’s MD, Mark Chant is no stranger to both AKG and Soundcraft. With a host of both AKG and Soundcraft in his own dry hire fleet, Ground:zero’s decision to maintain continuity with the brands is based on a proven track record, and optimum performance.

Soundcraft’s Si Expression 2 is a robust and compact FOH console. Boasting the latest generation EMMA™ DSP processor, component technology and manufacturing techniques, the console features 24 recallable mic pre amps plus four line inputs, four internal stereo FX returns, AES in, and a 64 x 64 input processing channels. Powerful and infinitely versatile, the Si Expression’s comprehensive but ‘simple to use’ control surface incorporates a dedicated control for every parameter, including a colour touch screen ensuring quick and easy operation.
Perfectly complementing the Si Expression, the AKG DMS 800 provides a robust reference digital wireless microphone solution that’s ideal for the rigorous demands of conferences, live events and tour sound applications and offers outstanding performance and versatility.
The purchased system comprises 8 AKG DSR 800 dual-channel receivers combined with DHT800 handhelds complete with D5 capsules and DPT800 body pack transmitters with AKG CK77 lavalier microphones.
