The newly updated JBL EONs continue to impress the mainstream press. International DJ magazine becomes the latest fans. On test here are the EON 315 and EON 518S Sub.

The EON300 series puts the next generation of EON systems within the reach of an even broader range of users, delivering the same fundamental design features, sonic performance and integrated utility as the new EON500 series, at an even more affordable price.

The unveiling of the EON500 series self-powered and lightweight speakers immediately raised the bar in the category of molded powered loudspeakers in all aspects, from industrial design to sonic performance, integrated utility and portability.

“The new sleek lines of the EON 315 are certainly pleasing. Weighing in at around 15 kilos, the 315 is not going to break your back moving them around, plus the input options give you plenty of scope”.

“The setup is nice and easy, and testing both a line input from a mixer as well as a direct input of a mic, the 315 delivers crisp highs, clear mids and a punchy bass for a plastic cabinet”.

“The new EON 315 certainly lives up to previous models, and the input section has just enough functionality to be useful for most application, making them an all round good bet”.

“This sub bass cabinet (518S) compliments its smaller siblings perfectly by delivering plenty of heavyweight bass to your system. With a footprint of about 60cm square, the 18mm plywood (yes, wood!) cabinets have a very sleek styling about them”.

“On the road the unit was no disappointment; the amp certainly delivers a tight and punchy bass. Put together two 518S’s and two 315 EONs and you have plenty of power to rock any spot'.

“The new EON range is definitely a move forward for JBL. Not only does it sound good, but they look cool as well”.
