At PLASA 2011, HARMAN’s JBL Professional is introducing the new AW (All Weather) Series loudspeakers. The AW Series is a family of high-power, lightweight, 2-way, full-range loudspeaker systems. The AW Series is part of JBL’s AE Series, a versatile family of loudspeakers designed for a wide variety of applications.

The JBL AW Series features five different loudspeaker models: the AW295, AW266, AW526, AW595, and AW566. The loudspeakers are comprised of JBL’s Differential Drive® dual voice coil and dual magnetic gap low-frequency 12- and 15-inch woofers, and 2432H high-frequency 38mm (1.5 inch) exit, 75mm (3 inch) voice coil compression driver. The large-format Progressive Transition waveguides provide excellent high-frequency coverage patterns. The waveguides are rotatable so the loudspeaker system can be used in either a vertical or horizontal orientation.

The enclosures are constructed of multilayer glass composite and are heavily braced to maximize low-frequency performance. The 14-gauge stainless steel grille, backed with open cell foam and stainless steel mesh, provides excellent protection in the harshest environments.

The AW Series speakers are equipped with a 400W 70/100V transformer. A heavy-duty stainless steel U-type mounting bracket is included and allows for easy installation on flat surfaces or in 90-degree corners.

“The new AW Series loudspeakers are ideal for use in outdoor applications that include sports facilities, themed entertainment venues, outdoor entertainment centres, cruise ships and water parks,” said Jon Sager, Senior Manager, Installed Sound, JBL Professional. “These loudspeakers deliver the same high output and intelligibility for which the AE Series is known, with the added benefit of being able to perform in extreme weather conditions.”
